The Anointed, 1996-1998 Acrylic on canvas 60.9 x 76.2 cm (30 x 24 in)
I started painting this portrait directly on the canvas without first doing a study. When I finished the composition I realized that I had left the hands out of the picture. This bothered me, so I went ahead and painted them above. This gave me the title.
